I see
www.mylivetracks.com in USA is selling SPOT to Australian customers for US$135 + US$35 postage = US $170. That's about A$210 at todays rate. That's a tad cheaper than A$249 + $15 delivery from GPSOZ. Any extras in the Australian sourced product to justify the difference ? Thanks.

By my calcualtions, $170US is about $205Au, plus duty plus gst gets you to $236. And yes retailers all have to pay GST and duty. You as individuals *may* not.
So for a few A$ dollars you get service, support, somebody to talk to on the end of a phone, warranty, a product thats been authorised to be used on the australian part of the sat phone network and a company that looks after their customers by providing this forum. I think thats a good deal?
cheers

Than seems a fair deal to me. You're right about GST & duty. I've been buying stuff overseas for years, sometimes quite expensive items, and have NEVER been charged GST or duty, but I can see a commercial business being hit. BTW, you have received my order, and I'm looking forward to receiving it this week. Thanks for the prompt & upfront reply. Much appreciated.

Yep we could all by things from over seas and close down all our Australian distributors, so then when you need help with the product their is no one left in Australia to call.
So buy from Australia keep them in business and have the support here at home. good work GPS-OZ. and gmt!
