Thinking of buying one???

From what we have obsevred so far compared to other products on the market:

fast processor - quick screen updates
vibrant screen - easy to read
good battery life - 4.5 hrs on 5" model
battery doesn't go flat if not used - guess it must at some stage but some 30+ days later its still good!
Sensis mapping for on road - good in cities
iTopo 1:250K topo map is very clear and excellent colour scheme
Needs more detailed maps to make it really usable for serious 4WDing. Standard maps are great for touring ie the "big trip".
Optional Hema maps via Austour are definteily worth considering.
Optional reersing camera input can be handy.,
bracket is too flimsy - moves around a bit on corrigations

My 2.2c worth (have to include GST!)

cheers

A Touring with street & iTOPO 4x4 australia raster maps (standard) will be plenty to get you going. You can always add on accessory maps later anyway. So see how you go, the 4x4 maps should suit 95% of what you want to do off road. The flexibility to add accessory maps are there so plenty of scope

GPS OZ has provided incorrect information. Touring 430 and 500 cannot accept an external GPS antenna.
