Loading waypoints

Postby Cruznoz on Fri Jan 16, 2009 9:25 am

Hi,
A couple of questions for you.
- Should I be able to connect my HN direct to either my PC running XP or my laptop running Vista using the supplied cable. At the moment I cant connect to either. I'm trying to upload way points to the HN, but I'm not getting anywhere. I'm thinking it may be a configuration error on my behalf but I'm not sure how to set things up.
- I've also tried to load the way points direct to the HN SD card using an SD reader plugged into the PC usb port. I've used this method susessfully uploading maps. I simply copy and paste the map file into the oz explorer folder on the SD card. However where ever I put a way point file on the SD card HN can't seem to find it. I'm able to put way points on the gps itself by using the touch screen on HN, and thought that if I put any uploaded way points from my PC into the same folder as the gps made way points, but when the SD card is plugged into my PC I cant find this folder. Which leads me to my next question.
- When I look at the SD card folders using the file button on the main menu, the folders are totally different then when I look at the folders on my PC. Why is this? Is there any way I can set the SD card up so that the folders look the same in the gps as they do on my PC. That way I can upload files to the SD card and know that I will be able to find them using the gps. I hope this is making sense. Any help would if welcome.
Regards
Steve

Steve
I have windows 2000 running and can read the HN via a card reader (I did need a new reader for the HDSD card) or directly plugged in, but you need to have activesync running to directly read the HN.

On my file structure the waypoints sit in:
Mobile device/SDMMC/OziExplorer Data/xyz

The file structure after OziExplorer Data/ was copied straight from the my PC version of Ozi.

To then see the waypoints on HN you need "File, waypoints, import wp's from file" to then view the lists

From a lot of questions noted regarding the HN to Oziexplorer PC. I have received information direct from the Hema Navigator Guru that it is NOT able to send NMEA signals so as to enable moving map on Ozi, or to be able to transfer files such as routes, tracks, maps or waypoints , direct to or from Oziexplorer, and will not work at all on Apple computers. Tracks, waypoints, and routes can be created in Ozi , saved in Data and copied or dragged and dropped into the HN Oziexplorer Data folder where they can be imported to the map screen. Les
