SD cards

Postby gpsoz on Mon Jun 23, 2008 3:20 pm

Just finsihed testing HN with a 16GB SD card, Ultra II by SANDISK, SDHC. Worked fine.

BTW you can transfer all the infromation from one SD card to the next just by copying. There is nothing "special" about the SD shipped with your HN. However the information on the card is unique to your HN so you can't use somebody elses.

cheers

Got a Kingston 8GB SDHC card, loaded the hema card onto it , tried it in the unit and a message came up saying that no software was installed (route 66 and ozi) what could be the problem with it?

I did the same with a 8 gig card only I forgot to include the files that are not in folders (about 8 files) which are the licence file and these are the important files for the operation of the software.

I hope this is the cause of the problem. Always apprehensive when doing anything with data files. I have the original card stored for safekeeping before I edited anything.

Cheers

Make sure that the data is an exact mirror image of the original card. If you are getting that message, it is most likely that the data has been copied into a folder & the folder is then copied to the root directory of the new sd card. Make sure that the data is not in a folder & all the directory structures are exactly the same as the original card.

I will try again, thought it might be because it is a Kingston 8gb card as I got a Sandisk 4gb card to work.

When I put the 4GB card that came with the HN in my card reader my system wants to format it.
Therefore I cannot read the info on the card or transfer maps etc. Could this be a problem with my card reader?

What brand is your SD card, also what type (SD or SDHC) and waht class 2 or 4?

My guess is that its an SDHC and your computers SD card is not HC compatible.

I would say your SD read in your PC in not compatible with your SD HC 4GB card. HC is the important bit. Easiest to buy a SD HC USB reader writer.

Gave up on the Kingston card, bought a 8gb Sandisk sdhc card and that works fine!
