VMS2265 mapping upgrade

Postby The Crow on Sat Jun 20, 2009 6:18 am

Hi guys I have the new mapping software installed and all is going great. It's a lot better than Route 66. Thanks for the prompt service.

Yes it is miles better than Route 66.

However, I have one gripe. When it is nvigating mine jumps back and forward on the map. Probably a computing power problem but it doesn't run smooth.

Does it jump to adjacent roads or stay on the same road and jump ahead or behind? When you are stationary or moving? What sort of vehicle and where do you have your antenna?

I have the same problem.
The car icon jumps back and forth along the road, it seems to jump from where the car is in relation to the streets and the map (the correct position) and then back 300M along the road being traveled (where just been). The flash rate is about twice a second.

It does it a little bit (not too bad) when not providing driving instructions (screen is just showing current position but not navigating), but it is quite pronounce and annoying when it is navigating.
It does it when moving, not when stationary, the more moving, the more pronounce the flicker.
Antenna is mounted on top of the dash under the windscreen and the signal meter indicates good signal from multiple satellites.

The position of the street name icons also seems to flicker from one position to another, always on the correct street, but they flash between the same two relative positions.

The flashing can be a bit of a distraction while driving and you have to take your eyes of the road longer to study the map to work out the correct position of the car in relation to the streets.

Mine does react a little slow and the icon is a little jerky also, you seem to be on the turn before the computer responds. Lucky I am in my own town and know where I am. My version number is 7.71, Build 3630D, Map Version 7.80.

No, we can upgrade SanDisk cards. We run some tests on them first so make sure you copy your data off first

I was told that I couldn't use the 32gig card that I had and had to get a new one why is this? It is a Panasonic 32Gig SDHC.

GPSOZ and VMS have had very mixed results with differnt SD cards, even from the same manufacturer. So we are both very cautious about being able to say we can upgrade any card. The brands that we have validated include Sandisk Class 2 and Class 4 (ultra II's) 8 16 and 32GB. Also Transcend Class 4's. We GPSOZ and as far as I know the VMS gys as well have not tested Panasonic cards. But we GPSOZ are happy too see how it goes with our testing. If it passes then we'll licenses it. As its not a GPSOZ/VMS standard issue card then if it fails in the future you will have to relicense it (ie more $$$$'s).

Sorry with so many brands on the market we can't say all
