VMS 500 imported way points

Postby Graham&Kate on Sat Sep 12, 2009 5:30 pm

Hi ,
I have imported my 350 plus way points in gpx format onto my MM on the computer, I am now trying to view them on my VMS500 tourer.
I have tried the show all but nothing shows either on the maps or in my lists.
So reimported them back on to the laptop from my Garmin gpx file also the Oziexplorer file, but same result.
I have noticed that when I view the waypoints using MM on the laptop that it shows multiple entries of the same waypoint, could this be caused by a copying of the same waypoints onto newoverlays eachtime I import the GPX file?.

Also read a similar thread to what I was trying to achieve by running Oziexplorer ce on my VMS500 but no success there either.
I think that I will try using the existing SD card but substituting the Itropo prog with the OZIE prog renamed , do I need to store the Ozie maps also on the SD card ?.

My laptop will not read the SDHC card direct so have to do everything via USB cable.

I have already backed up the Whole card to the lap top just incase!!.

Which Ozie prog of the three listed do I need for the VMS 500?

I would prefer to use the orig MM software with my old way points .

Regards Graham :P

Hi Brian ,
Yes they show on MM on the computer,
I used the USB link to the VMS and saved the file as a Overlay .
I have since purchased a SDHC card reader so now can work on the card Direct but this has Highlighted another problem.
I always make backups of my software before altering things just in case, but I have found that the card appears to back up using the "selct all, then copy" technique but when I transfer the files to another 4GB card it will not run , ITOPO seems to be ok but the Street navi will not load and run ,
Is the original card protected in some way ?.

I have sent several other emails to VMS SUPPORT but they do not reply ,

In MM on the PC you MUST save the file as \SDMMC\My_iTOPO_Data\mydata.mmo (via the USB cable) or if you have a SD reader to e:\My_iTOPO_Data\mydata.mmo

You should also check this entry http://www.vms4x4.com/support/SaveFix_Update.pdf

MM on the touring will read this file automatically on starting. When saving overlays this is the only file that MM writes on the touring.

As for the SD card, yes Street Navi is locked to the orignal card.

cheers
