4GB HC SD cards

Postby Les Addison on Tue Aug 04, 2009 9:06 am

Found a problem with the new 4gig HC SD cards, it seems they can only used in a card reader that will read the new HC (high capacity) format. Les

Hi Les,

Not new I'm afraid. Cards marked SDHC have only ever worked with SDHC raders. There are some non HC 4GB cards on the market but not worth playing aorund with. SD manufactures changed the internal format (HC) to support larger cards. External USB SDHC card readers are available for about $20 and support USB 2 so all in all a worthwhile investment. For those with built SD card readers in their PC/laptops its hard to tell if its an HC variety until you try it.

cheers
