20m Contour Patch

20m Contour Patch

Postby gpsoz on Fri Feb 20, 2009 7:36 pm

For those using the 20m contours (found on the OZtopo DVD) and wanting to use later versions of MapSource (V6.14.1 and onwards), you will need to download and run the following update:

http://www2.gpsoz.com.au/oztopo/downloads/20m%20Contours%20Patch.exe

This update can also be used with older versions of Mapsource.

Hi, I try to run it and I get "you must enter a full path with a drive letter" after clicking the Install button.

What gives ?

Mapsource 6.15 works on with all other maps except 20m contours. if I uninstall 20m contours then Mapsource starts, else not.

What should I do to be able to run the patch? I tried giving it some paramaters in a DOS box but no joy

Thank you

Not sure, when does the "install" button pop up? all you should need to do is download the .exe file to a folder on your PC and run it from there. The install procedure should start with a heading "Welcome to the 20m Contours Patch Setup Wizard"
NEext> or Cancel

Sorry to drag this out but haven;t seen this message before and not wure why your getting it. So this occurs during the install procedure or only during the download? Any chance of a screen shot? Do you have 20m contours installed?

At which step are you getting the above message?

BTW why are you loading 20m contours and not using the included 10m contours in OZtopo?

thanks

At that step (see above) - just before it should start working. Sorry for the delay, I was busy :-)

Very annoying, i have to use an older executable to get the 20m contours.

BTW Does the new Mapsource version work with 20m contours now?

I do not understand the "10m included with OzTopo" - you mean the free ones ? They are choppy.

Thank you

Hi Brian,

I've got the same problem. I have OzTopo v1 and 20m Contours. I downloaded the patch and when I run it I get the "welcome" screen. Press next - get to "ready to install", and then press install. An error dialog comes up with the following text

"You must enter a full path with drive letter; for example:

c:\APP\\or a UNC path in the form

\\server\share"

It looks like something is wrong in the installer msi. Is this just a registry patch? If so, it is something I could do manually? A reason that this may have fallen over is that I don't have the 20m contours installed in the default directory.

Many thanks

Yes its a registry delete and add ie effectively a rename function. If your good at regedit locate the 20m contour entry in
hk local machine\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Products\20m Contours
and rename to
hk local machine\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Products\665

the patch sets the location of 20m contours to the default location of oztopo V2.1. This should not cause a problem during the patch installation but may possilbly cause a rare problem when you start Mapsource.

Any chance of emailing a bckup copy of registry?

thanks
